We need to adapt fashion to hijab!

The relationship between fashion and hijab is a controversial issue… Those interested in hijab fashion say, “Of course, a Muslim woman should be stylish.” But on condition that it is not exaggerated!” agreed in their opinion.

HIJAB IS NEVER OUT OF FASHION, BUT…

Women who want to fulfill a duty and be stylish and elegant argue that a fashion approach should be adopted without going beyond the Islamic perception of hijab. Headscarved fashion bloggers, designers and editors say, “Hijab is out of fashion, but we can adapt fashion to hijab.” The common thought emphasized by the woman who accepts hijab as a sensitivity: “Of course, a Muslim woman should be stylish. However, provided that there is no exaggeration or waste!” Fatma Sevildi, Şemsi Tuba Magazine Editor Tuba İnler, Hijab fashion bloggers Serap Büyük Yılmazer and Nurcan Yazıcı Küçükakyüz evaluated the relationship between ‘hijab and fashion’ to STAR.

-Fatma Sevildi (Fashion Designer): Women have become normal, this is what was wanted

Hijab has no fashion, but we can adapt fashion to hijab. Covering up is an order, and fashion is something that pushes the limits. We get reactions, but we are not to blame. Women have a demand for elegance. Those who oppose this are also against the socialization of women. Magazines that appeal to conservative women and are declared criminal serve as a mirror, reflecting what exists. Now we live the same life as men and sit in the same cafes. We normalized. Wasn’t this what was wanted?

-Tuba Pearls (Tuba Magazine): There is no harm in wearing colorful clothes

The important thing is to dress nicely without attracting attention. Women have a desire to look beautiful. You cannot prevent this. I try not to encourage consumption in my magazine. We must dress nicely without exceeding our budget. There is a difference of interpretation in hijab. The problem stems from here. Anything that is not transparent, tight or short can be worn. There is no harm in wearing colorful clothes. In a secular country, everyone should be able to dress according to their beliefs…

Fashion magazines filled a need

-Blogger Serap Büyük Yılmazer: Even casual clothes are exaggerated in hijab ready-to-wear. That’s why they turn to normal brands rather than hijab brands. Hijab and fashion are different from each other, but they are not phenomena that cannot go together. There was something missing in this regard. That’s why we shouldn’t think of fashion magazines as consumption devices.

Islam does not suit women to be ugly

-Blogger Nurcan Yazıcı Küçükakyüz: I am against the perception of hijab as just a headscarf or clothing. I think hijab is a way of life. Islam does not consider it appropriate for women to be ugly or unkempt. As in the hadith ‘Allah is beautiful and loves beauty’, if our outer beauty is complemented by our inner beauty, we can reach human qualities.
